Moira is currently in Istanbul, where she just managed to get a bronze medal at the European A junior event, held here. After losing her first match by yuko, she went on to win the next three by Ippon, beating the girl from Turkmenistan in the final for the bronze medal. After losing her first match last week in Berlin, this definately was a better performance.

It is unsure when was the last time NZ got a medal in a EJU A tournament, but this was a breakthrough win for Moira. Mark Brewer, who was also competing in Istanbul, narrowly missed out on bronze by losing to Luxembourg by yuko, after winning his first two matches in the day. A very good day indeed for the two of them.

 

   Drew has managed to bag a double at the South Islands by winning the heavy weight category and Opens at the tournament. Anton just missed out on the bronze in both categories. Another good day at the ofice for Coach Chris. 

     The North Island Champs (6 - 7 September) is the next event on the calendar. Entries are in, everyone is almost ready to go, the club back patches look great, so we can't wait. read more ...
