Congrats to everyone involved in the build-up for a spectacular performance at the 2011 Nationals. Credit to players, athletes, parents, training partners and coaching staff.
An amazing 48 medals in this flagship event for one club, is phenominal. There 15 new NZ National champs in our club, winning a combined 25 national titles. Add to this, the 13 silver medallists and 10 bronze medallists, and we have a pretty high bench mark for future squads.
Add to this, the 5 trophies for 5 different individuals being the "most outstanding" athletes in their age groups. Their are 10 such categories in NZ Judo, and our club has won half of the awards. And we can go on and on ....

Well done to all at the competition - it was a good day out. Medallists were ;
Gold to Ally, Henry, Meghan, Tristan, Ullrich and Grayson
Silver for Pierce and bronze for Cameron and Fynn. Charlotte, Manaal, Max, Cooper and Boston learnt a lot, and all this experience will show soon. Watch this space for those names ....

A typical top drawer performance from our athletes - even from the "previously retired" Calum. Well done to everyone, even Moritz, and Charlotte who won matches, but could not quite get on the podium. Tim also fought very well, but could only just not crack his opponent for a win.
Gold medals : Kate (3), Tatalong and Tawan (2), Annezka, Calum, Dante, Nathan
Silver : Liam (2), Cameron, Matty, Dante, Ally and Annezka
Bronze : Nico, Isaac (2), Henry, Cameron

Very solid performance from Anton to walk away with a gold in the cadet open weight division. He was by far the smallest in the category, but smart thinking and a big heart won him the title.
Joss, our import for the weekend, won a silver, and Liam was having one of the days we all get from time to time, but we all want to forget it as soon as possible.
Day 2 of the competition brought Alex and Marco to the party. Alex lost his first match by decision against the eventual bronze medallist, and Marco won 2 matches to get bronze.

Congrats to Red Beach School who won the first ever primary schools team competition in NZ. The final against Torbay Primary was a tight affair, with Red Beach only winning it in the last match to secure a 3 - 2 victory. Glamorgan Primary and Orewa Primary got third equal.
Congrats also to the club senior team, who won the team competition against the touring team from Sundvalle in Sweden by 6 matches to 4.

Another successful day for our players. However, this time they competed for their schools, but they are still "ours". Well done to all who competed, and specifically to the following medal winners :
Gold - Tawan, Liam, Kate and Jess (welcome back with 2 golds)
Silver - Brandon, Tatelong, Annezka, Anton, Meghan, Hannah (and a speedy recovery)
Bronze - Izaac, Grayson, Kate
And to think the delegation did so well without the other "big guns" Ryan, Alex and Vinay .....
